Which kit size should you choose?

  • 40 cm - compact, easy to carry, ideal for small contexts and quick object photos.
  • 50 cm - the safest everyday field choice for excavation teams and general documentation.
  • 100 cm - for larger structures, sections and wider shots that need a rigid long reference.

Which color pattern works best in the field?

  • RWB / NBR - the most versatile high-contrast pattern and the best default choice.
  • BW / NB - a clean black-and-white reference for standard documentation.
  • BY / NJ - useful when yellow improves visibility on dark soil or low-light scenes.

Canvas or 1 m aluminium scale?

  • No long scale - enough for most finds, trenches and close field contexts.
  • 1 m aluminium - choose it when you need a rigid and precise long reference.
  • CANVAS - choose it for wider scenes when a foldable coated-fabric scale is easier to transport.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best kit for excavation teams?

CANO 50 cm is the practical field standard when orientation matters. Choose CANOMA 50 cm if the team also documents finds, samples or close-up details.

Which kit is best for finds photography?

For small finds and lab work, choose CAMA or CANOMA. Their MicroMagnet scales give 1, 2 and 5 cm references for close-up images.

Should I choose 40 cm, 50 cm or 100 cm?

Choose 50 cm if you are unsure. It gives more coverage than 40 cm while staying easy to handle. Move to 100 cm for large contexts, sections or structures.

Do I need CANVAS?

Only if you often need a wider reference that folds into the case. It is also the easiest way to keep a 1 m scale with you everywhere, without carrying a rigid 1 m aluminium scale. If most photos are close contexts or finds, a compact aluminium kit is usually enough.
